10.3. Nozzle Manufacturers & Suppliers

Note

These notes are based on my experiences with the Prusa i3 Mk3 and Artillery/Evnovo Sidewinder X1 printers. If you are using a different printer, please verify the hardware details are similar.

  • E3-D Online produces the V6 hotend used on the Prusa i3 Mk3. They offer a variety of nozzle sizes and materials. They can be ordered in the US from MatterHackers, FilamentOne and PrintedSolid.

  • P3-D offers a range of nozzle materials and sizes for the V6 hotend at prices competitive with E3D. Their brass Elite series offers anti-stick coating and a hardness level higher than most brass. Their Apollo series is also anti-stick coated, and offers better thermal characteristics than brass. Their Hercules hardened steel nozzles are well suited for printing with abrasives, and are also coated.

  • TriangleLab. Triangle Labs also has an affordable, high-quality nozzle pack. If you really need to save a few bucks on nozzles, TriangleLabs sticks to the original E3D nozzle specifications.

  • I purchased one of the craptastic nozzle packs off Amazon for the included tools. The nozzles are crude and will probably fail printing anything but PLA. They’re good enough to do a few prints with to get a feel for the differences between sizes. The included tools are very handy and worth the price.

Many 3D printing suppliers sell a range of nozzles suitable for the E3D V6 hotend used on the Mk3:

You can find me on the Prusa support forums or Reddit where I lurk in many of the 3D printing-related subreddits. I occasionally drop into the Official Prusa 3D discord server where I can be reached as bobstro (bobstro#9830). You can email me directly at projects@ttlexceeded.com.
